Figure 1 – provides Module View of Nirmanith showing construction processes that are supported through its different modules. The functions provided by each module are summarized in this diagram.
Nirmanith is an integrated solution and offers complete coverage of construction projects from budgeting to closure. It takes care of all business-related tasks with particular emphasis on tender management, contract management, project management, site management, invoicing etc. Brief narration of product functionality across these modules is provided below.
The activity starts with preparation of Project Proposal from Engineering department. The proposal is sent to the Finance / Budget sanctioning authority for review and approval. Once the proposal is sanctioned, a Project will be created in the system. The finance department flags off the commencement of the project by creating a Project Identification in the system.
After Project Identification is created; the next step is to create a detailed estimate. The engineering workbench within Nirmanith has provision to attach drawings and plans, analyze rates and finally to create detailed estimates. The detailed estimate can be created in multiple ways depending on project requirement. Once Engineering prepares the estimate it is sent to Finance for approval.
After the estimate is approved, this module will break it down into line items that can be included in tender schedule. The product caters to notice inviting tender (NIT) which can be exported to an e-Tendering portal and bids can be imported back into the product. Items will be grouped by type of work to facilitate tendering process. Then, the technical and commercial bids are evaluated based on criteria specified for evaluation. For each winning bid, the schedule of items and contract conditions are compiled to generate a letter of intent.

Construction processes are still heavily reliant on human expertise and initiatives by individuals. Nirmanith offers web-based comprehensive platform to manage entire construction project better.

The contract management process starts with preparation of a contract document by compiling the schedule of items and contract conditions. Any amendment requests received from the site executive are routed through the approval process before amending the contract.
The contractor initiates work on acceptance of LOI. Issues, status and any other events from site can be periodically imported to the project diary and status can be easily tracked using the system. There is a provision for site engineer to maintain the measurement book and this can be verified and forwarded for payment processing.

The implementation of applications in construction companies has not factored in the need for integrated functioning of departments. This results in cost overruns, delays and quality issues.

Nirmanith enables planning, tracking and monitoring of health and safety aspects in the work environment. It provides a mechanism to track safety measures, incidents, audit / inspection findings and take issues to closure. It also enables alerts and reports to designated personnel.
